Neck roll, anyone?

I didn't know that it would be so difficult to buy a simple neck roll.
JoAnns has them, but they charge you 28 Dollars - that's a lot. Even if I would have a 50% off coupon, 14 Dollars is still a lot.

Somebody told me IKEA has them, too.
I didn't found them, only pretty small ones (10 inches?), and they have feathers inside - years...
I don't like feathers inside a pillow at all, i prefer something washable and absolutely germ free.
But they would have been pretty cheap, marked down at 9.95.

So the next neck roll is now a simple rectangular pillow.
Again the combination of cloud 9 organic allegria fabric and linen,
with embroidery and woven ribbon (sorry, I sew euro *g*)

This was a birthday present for a friend. I think hope she liked it.

Greetings,
Tina

pattern: made by me

A verb for keeping warm

is a nice little fabric shop in Oakland.
They not only sell fabrics, but yarn as well.
Even better: They have some kids toys hidden under one table.
Even better: They have a bird that thinks beautifully.
Even better: They have a bunny that is allowed to go on its own through the store.
My daughter was thrilled :-)

So I had some time to browse there rather small, but fine fabric selection.

And I finally bought this:

Cloud 9 organic Allegria fabric
Riley Blake star fabric
100% cotton (!) Gingham and
black canvas.

I already used the Cloud 9 fabric (it is SO beautiful!) for a demo version of a neck roll:

Not perfect yet, but the fabric is gorgeous.

Greetings,
Tina

PS the store next door is a real cool, relaxed coffee shop. Great coffee, homemade pastries - don't just pass!

I like to say thank you

with little presents made by me.

Like this small (or not so small) Zipper pouch.
It is a german Farbenmix pattern, with some small alterations, easy to sew, with lots of possibilities:

I made it for my neighbor, who always helps me out.

I love this Prince Charming fabric - isn"t the frog just so cute?
Inside is oilcloth, so the pouch can be wiped clean

pattern: Lieselotte Hoppenstedt, Farbenmix (available in english, too)
fabric: Prince Charming, Tula Pink

I spy swap

I participated in a charm swap - An I spy charm swap.
Last week, I received my bundle, and I tried to figure out how to arrange them...

arranged in color groups
(I like that, but too much whites, not enough reds)

rather random - but arranging them in 6 x 8 rows doesn't work. Obviously.

4 x 9 rows. Running from pale to dark . To narrow, no?

Tried to rearrange after colors - whites, darks, blues, teal, reds, yellows, whites.
Okay, cheated a bit.

Think I like this best so far. What do you think? Any ideas?

THANKS everybody for the great fabrics. I can't wait to start sewing my I spy quilt!
Hope I find the time soon.

And THANKS to Lorelei from the midnight maker  for all the work she has done to make this swap possible. I owe you :-)

Trading

Another mom gave me a bunch of great clothes for my two younger kids.
As I had nothing to trade, I though it would be a nice idea to give her something handmade for her kids instead:

The pictures are fairly bad, sorry, it is raining in California today...

I hope they will like them.

Greetings,
Tina

I' so proud of myself, you won't believe it:

Here is a real bad evidence photo, I will show more when I'm finished (no, I won't make a swoon quilt)

see you :-)

Finally, they are marching to Texas...

but you know, elephants aren't so fast - they march rather slowly, like the usps *laugh*

I am so sorry it took me so long, but with four sick kids (each one is having it's second turn since christmas now), I'm rather sitting in my pediatricians waiting room than at my sewing machine *sigh*

Aren't they cute?

And, finally, you can see the difference between the elephantastic (elefantös) elephant and the elephantiny here:

I hope, Laura and here daughters will like them,
one is for the new baby to come, one is for big sister to be Kate - guess which is which ;-)

(make this photo bigger and you will know *g*)

have a nice weekend,
Tina
